The Opportunity
We’re recruiting for a Production Planner & Systems Support role within a growing precision engineering environment.
This is a key position where you’ll take ownership of production planning while supporting and developing ERP/MRP systems to drive efficiency and business growth. You’ll play a central role in ensuring smooth operations, strong delivery performance, and continuous improvement across the shop floor.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Production, you’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating manufacturing activity to optimise delivery, flexibility, and efficiency.
You’ll work closely with production, engineering, and customers to ensure capacity, materials, and systems are aligned to meet demand.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
Create and manage production plans for the machine shop
Monitor sales orders, identifying risks, constraints, and bottlenecks
Progress and expedite shortages to support OTDIF (On Time Delivery In Full) targets
Issue work orders and job packs, agreeing throughput targets with production
Track performance and adjust plans to meet changing demandsERP / Systems Support
Support and develop ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools
Review and maintain routings, data accuracy, and system integrity
Drive best practice use of ERP across the production team
Analyse production data to support decision-makingContinuous Improvement
Lead and support initiatives to improve lead times, efficiency, and output
Produce capacity analysis to identify and resolve bottlenecks
Support QRM (Quick Response Manufacturing) implementation
Promote visual management and shop floor communication
Ensure accurate ERP bookings and performance reportingCommunication & Coordination
Liaise with customers daily to provide updates and manage expectations
Communicate risks and issues proactively to enable recovery plans
Work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and management teams
What We’re Looking For
Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in Production Planning / MRP / ERP environments
Background in precision engineering or manufacturing
Experience with Master Production Scheduling (MPS)Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding of ERP/MRP planning principles
High level of IT literacy (especially Excel)
Ability to analyse data and identify improvement opportunities
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Confident communicator, able to engage across all levelsQualifications
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent (or higher)
