Main Responsibilities:\n\nWorking alongside our Cyber Security team in the following areas:\n\no Managing Security Risk\n\no Protecting against Cyber Attack\n\no Detecting Cyber Security Threats\n\no Minimising the impact of cyber security incidents.\n\n· Work in our Systems and Technology team to gain an understanding of Operational Technology:\n\no System architecture Design\n\no Software Detail Design, FAT planning and execution\n\no Carrying out Source Code Review and peer document review\n\nYou will also assist on specific projects to develop and deploy new technologies to support the firm going forward. In the course of your apprenticeship, you will develop to become experienced in a number of aspects of cyber and information security. The post holder will have some pervious knowledge or experience of IT, gained either in school, university/college or in work, and will possess the following knowledge, skills and experience:\n\nMeet the academic criteria for admission to the Graduate Apprenticeship BSc Cyber Security course at Glasgow Caledonian University which is BBCC Higher Grades (or equivalent), including maths or computing, or an HNC or HND in Computing/Networking or Cyber Security.\n\n⢠Genuine interest and enthusiasm for IT, especially networking and cyber security\n\n⢠Excellent communication skills\n\n⢠Ability to work individually or as part of a team.\n\n⢠Good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills\n\n⢠Good attention to detail, testing and documentation\n\n⢠Can demonstrate confidence and responsibility.\n\n⢠Positive and enthusiastic with a âCan doâ approach.\n\n⢠Takes ownership and uses initiative.\n\n⢠Independent relevant experience of IT, networking, infrastructure, cyber security, support, software development or web development gained outside of school, college or work is desirable.\n\nWhat Skills will I learn?\n\nInitially you will work closely with our Engineering and Cyber Security Teams, you will develop and take ownership of specialist aspects of cyber security. As part of your training and development, we will support you to undertake the Graduate Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Cyber Security at Glasgow Caledonian University commencing in September 2026\n\nWhat Qualifications and Qualities are Required\n\nYou will have a passion for technology, in particular for networking and cyber security. You will have strong communication and teamwork skills, and a level of IT knowledge and experience which allows you to quickly build rapport with clients.\n\nIndependent relevant experience of IT, networking, infrastructure, cyber security, support, software development or web development gained outside school, college or work will be an advantage.\n\nYou must be committed to a four year development programme and meet the criteria for admission to the Graduate Apprenticeship BSc Cyber Security course at Glasgow Caledonian University (detailed below). Graduate Apprenticeships are open to applicants of any age in Scotland, there are no age restrictions.\n\nThe post will be initially based in Irvine.\n\nFor new employees applying directly from school:\n\nSQA Higher: BBCC including Computing or Maths plus Nat 5 English at C, Nat 5 Maths at C.\n\nFor applicants with prior work experience and professional qualifications, there is a possibility to be considered through the universityâs flexible entry system through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).\n\nThis process allows prospective graduate apprentices to claim credit(s) against previously assessed and certificated learning, including informal learning, to be considered and recognised for academic purposes and credit within their course.
