The University of Nottingham Centre for Dairy Science Innovation (CDSI) have an opportunity for a Herd Manager to join their team. Offering: 25 hour work week 3 bedroom house Salary of £35,116 – £46,735 per annum, dependent on experience. Our Farm The University of Nottingham Centre for Dairy Science Innovation (CDSI) is part of the Agri-Tech National Centre for Dairy Research. Our farm covers 1,100 acres, and our herd consists of 340 Holsteins/Fresians plus followers. The herd is milked twice a day through 7 x A4 Lely robots. The herd is housed and calved all year round. You will be joining a full-time team of 10, and will be provided with development opportunities. Your Role Roles and responsibilities will include: Managing the day-to-day running of the dairy herd – milking, feed management and ensuring herd health and welfare is the top priority. Provide rota cover for the Farm Manager (Dairy) and will therefore be the responsible person on site. Utilising the data provided and keeping compliance & records up to date. Maintain and build strong working relationships with third-party visitors, including consultants, vets and nutritionists Working closely with the Farm Manager to develop the strategy for the farm. Ensuring the farm is kept tidy and safe to operate at all times Farm machinery and general farm maintenance.
