Teaching Assistant – Special Educational Needs (SEN) Schools

Contract: Full-time / Part-time
Salary: £13.75 an hour
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Teaching Assistant to join our Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools in Southampton. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the education and development of pupils with a variety of learning difficulties and disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide targeted support to pupils with SEN, assisting with learning activities tailored to individual needs
Support the delivery of the curriculum under the guidance of the class teacher and SEN specialists
Assist in the development of pupils’ communication, social, and emotional skills
Contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure holistic support for pupils
Candidate Requirements:
Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is desirable
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Flexible, reliable, and able to follow detailed instructions

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
