Local Public Services - Manager -Procurement, Cost Reduction & Transf, PwC UK
PwC has the UK's largest Local Public Services consultancy team. We are currently working with Councils, Housing Associations, Charities and devolved Governments across the country. This role sits within the Enterprise Transformation (ET) Consulting Practice to support Local Public Services (LPS) clients in transforming at the organisation-wide level, including within functions such as Social Care and Housing.
You will contribute to cost reduction, procurement and operational improvements, drawing on consulting or professional services experience to deliver measurable benefits for public sector clients. You should care deeply about the future of public services and bring that passion to your work, whether your background is in councils, charities, housing associations, or arm’s-length bodies.
What Your Days Will Look Like
As a Manager you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping Local Public Services clients solve business issues from identification to full implementation.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the LPS team to deliver transformation programmes to clients across the country.
* Proactively assist in the management of several clients, while reporting to Senior Managers and above.
* Establish effective working relationships directly with clients.
* Contribute to the development of your own and the team's technical acumen.
* Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues.
* Be actively involved in business development activities to help identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients.
Your Focus Areas
Cost Reduction & Procurement
* Identifying cost-saving opportunities across services and supply chains.
* Designing and implementing cost management and procurement strategies.
* Leading contract management and strategic supplier relationship programmes.
Operational Improvement
* Reviewing operations to improve efficiency and outcomes.
* Driving process improvements and performance enhancements.
* Leading change management and supporting implementation.
Digital Transformation
* Helping clients reimagine their procurement and commercial functions.
* Using data and technology to deliver smarter services and savings.
* Embedding new digital tools and approaches into day-to-day operations.
This Role Is For You If
* You really care about this market and bring that passion to drive change to how you work.
* Sector and capability experience in one or more of: public sector experience or consultancy supporting public sector clients.
* A proven track record of delivering transformation, cost savings, or procurement improvements.
* Demonstrated real, measurable benefits for clients or organisations (financial and non-financial).
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience turning data into insight.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills, including presenting to senior stakeholders and conducting commercial negotiations with suppliers.
* Familiarity with digital tools, data analytics, or emerging technologies like generative AI.
* Willingness to travel as needed to support clients on the ground.
