Overview
As a Senior Product Manager, you will lead product teams to design, build, and deliver digital products and features that meet business objectives and user needs, aligning with HMRC’s goals and the Government Digital and Data (GDaD) framework.
Positions Available Across
* Banking & Payment Processing – Technology supporting HMRC and cross‑government banking operations, including matching of unallocated payments.
* Payments In & Out – Enable HMRC to manage all inbound and outbound payments.
* Accounting, Audit, Risk & Control – Produce and report on HMRC accounts and internal audit management.
* HR – Technology across the HR lifecycle from recruitment to offboarding.
Responsibilities
* Deliver product features for the Payments, Banking & Accounting or Corporate HR areas.
* Define scope, key features and iterate as new insights emerge.
* Engage stakeholders to secure buy‑in for the product vision and roadmap.
* Work with multidisciplinary delivery teams (delivery leads, user research, service design, business analysis, software engineering).
* Collaborate with performance analysts and user researchers to gather feedback and improve live products.
* Own and maintain a backlog, prioritising release order in alignment with product goals.
* Work with Leads to explore product options and their high‑level financial case.
* Ensure accessibility standards meet organisational requirements.
* Shape research activities to test concepts, features or prototypes for usability.
* Participate and contribute to the product‑management community of practice.
Experience
* Building and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships, including negotiating on difficult issues.
* Understanding problems within a service/product/ process and finding positive solutions.
* Prioritising work based on value and securing stakeholder buy‑in for plans/roadmaps.
* Leading or supporting projects to deliver stated outcomes.
* Collaborating with specialists to solve problems.
* Measuring and tracking success of projects, services, or process changes.
Desirable Criteria
* Prior experience in finance or HR services.
* Working knowledge of ITIL v4.
* Customer‑facing skills in spoken English/Welsh where required.
* Previous work with government assets baseline personnel security checks considered.
Eligibility / Nationality Requirements
* UK nationals.
* Nationalities of the Republic of Ireland.
* Commonwealth nationals with right to work in the UK.
* EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein nationals and family members with settled or pre‑settled status.
* Individuals with limited leave to remain or indefinite leave to remain eligible for EUSS as of 31 December 2020.
* Turkish nationals and certain family members with accrued right to work.
Benefits
Salary: £58,541 plus travel allowance. Travel adjustment payment may be available for successful applicant in Bradford. Contributions to the Civil Service Pension scheme, flexible and hybrid working, generous leave allowance (25‑30 days). Pension: at least 28.97% of salary.
