Residential Boarding Matron
Location: Crewkerne, Somerset
Salary: £15,000 per annum (inclusive of accommodation & meals)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (term-time with InSET/training days)
We’re recruiting on behalf of a leading independent boarding setting in Crewkerne for a warm, organised and compassionate Residential Boarding Matron. You’ll live on site and play a key role in pupils’ day-to-day welfare, creating a homely atmosphere while ensuring high standards of care and safety.
Key duties include:
- Supporting pupils’ health, safety and emotional wellbeing.
- Assisting with induction and providing a sympathetic presence for new boarders.
- Managing laundry, clothing, and dormitory cleanliness.
- Organising snacks/treats and replenishing fruit bowls and water daily.
- Accompanying boarders to medical appointments.
- Keeping accurate records and attending boarding team meetings.
- Supporting first aid cover and helping with travel arrangements.
What we’re looking for:
- A caring, practical person with a good sense of humour.
- Organised and self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
- Experience of working with children or in a boarding/pastoral role (desirable).
- First aid qualification (or willingness to train).
This post involves safeguarding children and requires an Enhanced DBS check.
