Role Overview:
Thirteen Group is on the lookout for a Solutions Architect to join our IT team. As a key driver of our technology transformation journey, you’ll be our technical authority and architectural visionary. Your work will shape how we deliver exceptional experiences for customers and colleagues by turning business needs into technical solutions through the design, development and integration of advanced applications.
This is a hybrid role, and you’ll primarily be based at our fantastic head office at Hudson Quay in Middlesbrough, with the expectation that you'll spend at least one to two days a week in the office as a minimum. Flexibility is important, so there may be times when additional presence at the office is required to meet business and team needs.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead with vision as the technical design authority. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, using your in-depth knowledge of emerging technologies to recommend and implement solutions.
* Set the strategic direction for application development and support, ensuring our technology evolves with business goals.
* Oversee the design of scalable, secure and cost-effective technology solutions that enhance the customer and colleague experience.
* Drive the standardisation and streamline of existing technology and data solutions by managing our approach to systems across Thirteen. You’ll reduce technical debt, reduce licensing and support costs, and phase out outdated platforms.
* Embed continuous improvement and innovation in application delivery, utilising DevOps and agile methodologies.
* Maintain high-level design and architecture blueprints for systems and applications to future‑prove our solutions.
About You:
* A technical expert with a track record of designing and delivering modern, user-friendly enterprise application solutions.
* Experienced in leading and supporting major transformation programmes, including application design, integration, and testing.
* You’ll have a qualification in computer science, information systems or a related field, and certifications such as TOGAF Microsoft Certified. It would be a bonus if you held AWS/Azure Certified Solutions Architect, PRINCE2, or Agile Practitioner certifications.
* Confident in managing supplier relationships to ensure value, performance, and compliance.
* Someone who horizon scans to understand emerging technologies and sector trends to embed best practice and innovation across Thirteen.
