Overview
We are seeking a capable and safety-focused Counterbalance Driving Machine Assistant to support the operation of our Mobile Reel Dividing Machine (MRD). This is a key operational role within our production environment, requiring precise materials handling, strong situational awareness, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe movement, positioning and control of large paper reels using a counterbalance forklift, ensuring continuous supply to the MRD and supporting finished product handling. Experience handling paper reels is highly advantageous; however, applicants with solid counterbalance experience in other sectors will be considered, as full training on our processes and equipment will be provided.
This role also requires a high level of computer literacy due to the use of bespoke on-site production and inventory systems.

Key Responsibilities
* Safely operate a counterbalance forklift to transport, position and load large paper reels in support of the MRD operation.
* Ensure accurate reel identification, movement and allocation in line with production schedules.
* Assist MRD operators with reel preparation, staging and finished reel removal.
* Maintain safe stacking and storage of raw materials and finished goods within designated areas.
* Conduct daily pre-use forklift inspections and basic operational checks.
* Accurately record movements, stock adjustments and production data using on-site computer systems.
* Support inventory accuracy through disciplined scanning and system updates.
* Work closely with machine operators and supervisors to ensure production flow is maintained without interruption.
* Adhere strictly to site health, safety and environmental procedures, particularly when handling large-format reels.
* Maintain high housekeeping standards within the operational area.

Experience & Skills Required
* Proven experience operating a counterbalance forklift in an industrial or warehouse environment.
* Experience handling large paper reels or cylindrical loads is advantageous but not essential.
* Strong spatial awareness and confidence handling bulky or high-value materials.
* Good mechanical awareness and ability to carry out routine equipment checks.
* High level of computer literacy – confident using production systems, scanning equipment and bespoke software.
* Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding reel identification and stock accuracy.
* Ability to work effectively within a production-led environment and meet operational deadlines.
* Physically capable of working in a manufacturing setting where manual handling may be required.
* A proactive, team-oriented approach with a strong commitment to safety.
