Reports To: Nursery Manager
Annual Leave: 20 days plus bank holidays
Hours: 10 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 6am - 8am (Probation: 7:30am - 9:30am)
Contract: 6 months, with potential review for extension
Our nursery operates outside of regular hours to ensure readiness for the day. Nursery Housekeepers work predominantly 'out of hours', starting at either 5am or 5pm depending on the nursery size. This schedule allows for team coordination at the start or end of shifts. Full shifts during nursery opening hours are not available.
As a Nursery Housekeeper, your responsibilities include meticulous cleaning and sanitation of all nursery areas. You will support the nursery team in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, adhering to high standards and following COSHH and relevant policies. Work hours are before opening at 7:30am or after 5pm. A full UK driving license or proximity to the nursery is essential, along with being a reliable key holder.

Description of Duties
1. Deliver: Provide excellent service to children and families
2. Cleaning all nursery areas including toilets, kitchens, playrooms, and staff areas
3. Sanitizing surfaces, especially high-contact areas like door handles and switches
4. Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping all areas
5. Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately
6. Dusting all surfaces, including underneath furniture
7. Assisting with nursery laundry and deep cleans as required
8. Taking ownership of tasks, maintaining honesty and transparency
9. Managing stock levels and equipment to ensure high standards
10. Adhering to health and safety guidelines, including COSHH
11. Presenting a professional appearance and 'Dressed for Service'
12. Attending training and meetings as required
13. Performing additional duties within the scope of the role
14. Fostering a creative and innovative environment
15. Complying with nursery policies and procedures
16. Building a positive team environment
17. Maintaining confidentiality
18. Communicating effectively with management and reporting maintenance issues
Experience
Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience preferred. Knowledge of COSHH is advantageous but not essential.
