Overview
Wincanton manages the transportation of fuel from fuel terminals to retail sites and handles the delivery of petroleum, ethanol, and aviation fuel. Our South East region operates 25 tankers delivering fuel to Valero’s network.
Reporting to the Local Operations Manager, this role assists in the daily running of the Transport Operation, to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of goods.
Hours of work hours are Monday - Friday with weekly rotating early/late shifts
05:30 - 13:30/11:00 - 19:00
Salary £30,000 - £34,000 depending on experience.
Key responsibilities:
1. Assist in the daily running of the Transport operation by completing all administrative and legislative tasks required to maintain performance of the operation.
2. To liaise with other departments to ensure all delayed departures and/or deliveries are clearly communicated to the relevant area.
3. Ensure Operational security requirements are adhered to. vehicle keys, phones, fuel cards,
4. Collation and input of statistical information for various reports.
5. Engage directly with customers to provide updates in relation to their delivery, to resolve queries or provide pre-delivery information as required.
6. Management of tachograph records.
7. Promote good driver good driver behaviours utilising tools including Mix telematics
8. Assist with conducting Investigations within a timely manner.
9. Assist with the management of vehicle defects through the VOR process.
10. Actively be involved in the recruitment, training, and coaching of all colleagues.
11. Management of the sickness absence process, including accurate record keeping and return to work interviews.
What will you bring?
12. Supervisory experience within a busy transport operational environment (any industry)
13. Understanding of drivers working time directive and EU regulations
14. Experience in dealing with HR issues including investigations, welfare meetings etc
15. Attention to detail is key for this role as is the accuracy of information supplied
16. Well organised with the ability to prioritise tasks as required
17. Excellent communicator at all levels, with a positive attitude to work
18. Good computer skills are critical to this role specifically MS Office applications such as Word and Excel and knowledge of Distribution/Transport Systems would be advantageous
19. CPC holder
20. Experience of working in a unionized environment is desirable but not essential
