Offer description

There has never been a more exciting time to work in Derby City. As a Unitary Authority, we have real strengths, great ambition and many opportunities ahead. We have a strong economy, a diverse City and a great central location. We have a positive and dynamic approach to flexible working.

Like many authorities, our City also faces challenges. We are looking for someone who can join in our team’s enthusiasm and creativity in meeting these challenges. You will be instrumental in achieving both our proactive and reactive work programmes. We are looking for someone who has:

* A BSc/MSc in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and ideally have completed their Environmental Health Practitioner Portfolio and be a CIEH registered Environmental Health Practitioner.
* A thorough understanding/experience of working in food safety, health and safety and infection disease control (to be appointed on the Grade J post, applicants must have at least a 2-year proven record in a food enforcement).
* The ability to meet the authorised officer competency’s requirements of the Food Law Code of Practise.
* A full driving licence and use of a car is also required.

It is also your approachable manner, excellent communication skills and your ability to prioritise your work that will be your strength to Derby.

For an informal discussion please contact Elizabeth Osterholm, Team Leader on 01332 641966 or elizabeth.osterholm@derby.gov.uk.
