ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role is central to driving growth and strengthening our presence within the UK market. You’ll take ownership of developing sales volume and improving margins across a key customer portfolio, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring every interaction is handled
with professionalism and care. Beyond managing existing relationships, you’ll actively identify and pursue new business opportunities, championing the customer’s perspective within the organisation to maintain high satisfaction and long‑term partnership success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Be responsible for obtaining market and pricing data to calculate margins and manage customer accounts/contracts
2. Focuse on growing and developing existing customers, together with generating new business. Key targets would include the introduction of new products focusing on our value added products
3. Understand customer market, capability & position in order to create a joint business plan to drive growth in all major BC activities e.g chocolate, cocoa, specialties
4. Develop positive working relationships with key stakeholders within the customer including, sales, buying, technical, NPD and supply chain
5. Provide reports on customer and competitor activity including arranging and managing quarterly business reviews with key customers
6. Liaise about BC product portfolio, obtain technical and legal advice and liaise re trials for new products
7. Co-ordinate all UK marketing activities
8. Ensure customer compliance to agreed terms and conditions
9. Contract Management - Ensure timely administration of contract bookings and payments including formal follow up with appropriate parties e.g. customer / pricing officer / credit control
10. Be aware of direct and indirect competitors of BC and take responsibility to share / take action based on this. Good awareness of macroeconomics is needed to build credibility with customers
11. Act as a spokesperson for Barry Callebaut on any relevant industry bodies
ABOUT YOU:
12. Technical degree in a related subject preferred
13. A full driving licence, valid in the UK
14. Excellent communication skills, verbal and written including presentation skills, articulate and confident in delivery
15. Strong account management and relationship building skills
16. An ability to manipulate data, with strong computer literacy in all Microsoft office programs and applications, as well as Salesforce
17. Experience of business-to-business selling essential. Experience of UK retail preferable
18. An ability to analyse and manipulate data, with strong computer literacy in all Microsoft office programmes - especially Excel (Intermediate level)
19. Experience of analysing market information and forecasting sales opportunities
20. Proven track record of delivering business growth, prospecting and ability to secure positive networking relationships
