The Head of Health Data Transformation will lead the health data transformation priorities of the Group Health Data & AI team - a small, supportive, and high-performing team responsible for driving and accelerating Bupa Group’s Data & AI ambitions. The role will work with the wider Group Strategy & Transformation team, our Market Unit (MU) and Business Unit (BU) teams globally to shape, develop support the execution of our key health data and transformation initiatives. The purpose of these initiatives is to recognise the transformative potential that data and AI can play in healthcare, and to demonstrably use that potential to deliver on Bupa’s purpose of helping our customers live longer, healthier happier lives and making a better world. Key responsibilities: This role will act as a central source of expertise within Bupa and a transformation specialist by: Leading the Group Health Data priorities. Lead cross-functional and multi-market transformation programs. Develop and manage workstreams for timely delivery, creating reporting materials for a range of audiences including the Group Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, CEC and Board. Track progress and support issue resolution across workstreams. Effectively managing a team, directly or in matrix arrangement to drive delivery of the Group transformation agenda. Support KPI reporting and performance analysis to inform business decision-making, in support of Bupa’s global strategy. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across strategy, data, operational and finance teams. Providing a centre-of-excellence, leading collaboration and working through influence across Bupa’s global businesses. Understand the scope of activity across the business, before defining key priority areas and quantifying value at stake, aligned to strategic organisational direction. Drive incremental progress of understanding and ambitions related to health data, in support of efforts to become a data-driven organisation. Work closely with data, transformation, clinical, commercial and contracting teams to identify and articulate areas of potential value and integrate data best practices into business processes. Act as a key subject matter expert and driver of the Group Strategy & Transformation agenda – both within the Group Health Data & AI team, and more broadly. Work with the Head of AI Transformation to define opportunities, underlying data requirements and performance metrics to support relevant transformation initiatives. Proactively assess external developments, to calibrate against the ambition across our businesses. Provide transformation and delivery expertise into wider Group activity across functions. Represent the Group Strategy & Transformation team at internal and external events, positioning Bupa as a global healthcare leader in health data. Working as part of the Group Health Data & AI team, the role will support additional priority workstreams, including new strategic & transformation initiatives e.g. proposition development, digital health and innovation projects. The role will require the individual to deputise for the Group Director of Health Data and AI. Some international travel may be required as part of the role. You do not need to meet every experience criterion below to succeed in this role. Qualifications: Graduate Degree (e.g., BA, BSc, MEng) or higher (e.g., MA). Essential Experience: Leading complex transformation programmes involving data, digital or technology change (7 years) Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving alignment in global or matrixed organisations. Strong programme leadership, with a track record of delivering results at pace. Ability to translate business, clinical or operational needs into data‑driven solutions. Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability, with an understanding of data concepts. Desirable Experience: Experience working with health or clinical data (e.g., EHR/EHR systems, claims, diagnostic or outcomes data). Familiarity with clinical coding (e.g., SNOMED, ICD‑10), interoperability standards (e.g., FHIR) or health informatics. Knowledge of data governance, data platforms, or data quality uplift initiatives. Experience in healthcare specific transformation, data strategy, or digital innovation. Skills & Behaviours: Excellent communication and strategic storytelling skills. Strong relationship‑building and influencing abilities, both directly and indirectly with a strong bias towards delivery. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international and matrixed environment.
