We are excited that an opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the Cheltenham Peripheral Primary Care Network (CPPCN). CPPCN consists of 5 practices on the outskirts of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire: Leckhampton, Sixways, Cleevelands, Stoke Road & Winchcombe. Together we look after 54,000 patients. CPPCN is looking for a capable candidate to join and contribute to a team that currently includes 5 Clinical Pharmacists and 1 Pharmacy Technician. The role could be full-time at 37.5 hours per week or part-time at a minimum of 22.5 hours (3 days). There is flexibility to work from home as required and occasional travel between the 5 locations.
Training will be provided by our Lead Pharmacist and national bodies, with access to an active pharmacy network within Gloucestershire. The role involves enrolment onto CPPE and NHS England Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway to develop further skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities
* Undertake patient-facing and patient-supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use, through shared-decision making conversations with patients.
* Carry out medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration (e.g. checking inhaler technique), supporting medication reviews, and medicines reconciliation. Where required, utilise consultation skills to work with patients to ensure they use their medicines effectively.
* Assist in the delivery of medicines optimisation and management incentive schemes and patient safety audits.
* Support, as determined by CPPCN, medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for new care home patients and synchronising medicines for patient transfers between care settings, linking with local community pharmacists.
* Provide specialist expertise, where competent, to address public health and social care needs, including lifestyle advice, service information, and help in tackling health inequalities.
* Take a central role in the clinical aspects of shared care protocols and liaising with specialist pharmacists for more complex patients.
* Support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing.
* Support the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within GP practices, care homes and other primary care settings, through clinical audits, quality improvement measures and contributing to the Quality and Outcomes Framework and enhanced services.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: Professional registration with GPhC.
* Essential: BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
* Essential: Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
* Essential: Experience of working as a qualified registered pharmacy technician in primary care or in community/hospital pharmacy.
* Essential: Computer literate with ability to use GP clinical systems (desirable) and Microsoft Office packages (essential). Able to analyse and interpret prescribing data. Attention to detail. Good communication skills. Knowledge of data protection and confidentiality. Full driving licence and use of a car.
