Job Description
The Head of Technical Compliance and Risk will take responsibility for all compliance assurance and risk management, for the Estates, Environment and Facilities directorate.The role is a crucial post in ensuring that the activity within the Estates, Environment and Facilities directorate across the multi campus estate is compliant with legal and statutory requirements for all operational and project service provisions. It requires highly developed and emotionally astute leadership and influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individual and teams to achieve departmental targets for compliance.The role will provide effective compliance assurance, risk management, and business continuity coordination ensuring the compliance needs of, statutory and mandatory requirements etc. are measured and met to agreed deadlines with a specific responsibility for reviewing, commenting and providing technical solution for potential challenges.
This is a highly collaborative role and the Head of Technical Compliance and Risk will work seamlessly with the Heads of Maintenance, Capital projects, Major programmes and senior FM leads., supporting, co-developing and shaping plans and processes to ensure the directorate and the university remain safe and wholly compliant at all times. Key to success is the ability to analyse complex problems and to develop practical and workable solutions to address them.This includes but is not limited to collating information from audits, surveys and reports of plant and building services, analysing data, reports and information from the CAFM system, reviewing permits to work and method statements form contractors, defining and designing systems to ensure the effective control of compliance related data.
This position is suited to a dynamic, problem solver who cares about output and improvement. It is suited to someone who wishes to work alongside senior colleagues to continuously drive improvement throughout the directorate and provide assurance across all aspects of technical estates compliance. The second job dimension is the management of risk and ensuring business continuity. The incumbent will work with the senior team to ensure that proactive risk management in embedded in all processes and used as a tool for greater assurance and improved safety, and that local incident response pans and business continuity plans remain relevant, refined and optimised.
