Overview
The Service Development Analyst will conduct activities to primarily support the Service Development team and wider VDI department in achieving the objective of improving the quantity and quality of data held in the Valpak packaging database. In addition to this, they will also be responsible for innovating and implementing new ideas for the department such as automation, improving processes and delivering new services. Therefore, the candidate needs to have good communication skills and be able to handle data effectively. Furthermore, the candidate will be responsible for their own internal projects, from developing projects from idea to delivering these products as a service. Therefore, the candidate needs to be a proactive problem solver with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Accountabilities
* Expand the scope of the Valpak Database
* Investigate new services that could be delivered to our customers by analysing the extensive database, identifying current reporting gaps in the market
* Work cross-functionally to increase use of EPIC data beyond compliance by identifying areas of cost savings to members through new services e.g., packaging analysis service
Data for Operations
* Be an expert in utilising in house software systems; including data input and analyses of weights information
* Gain a solid understanding of the high-level systems as well as possess expertise in specific business-as-usual technical tasks
Innovate new ideas for the department
* Innovate new ideas for the department
* Review the existing methodologies within the teams and identify areas of time saving via automation and improvements to processes
* Support with the delivery of new programming languages to the wider VDI department Support Service Development Manager to implement new services for upcoming regulations such as Textiles EPR
Ensure data integrity
* Analyse and interpret data using reports and statistical techniques to provide insights to the department
* Rigorously interrogate data and the underlying assumptions
* With upcoming changes to legislation ensure the data is complete to comply with the regulations, identify any new areas of capture
* Identify further error checking methods to align with the new data capture for the upcoming regulations
* Be a proactive problem solver with strong analytical skills by using data analysis tools to identify patterns and trends in the database
Requirements
* Advanced Excel Skills
* Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* High standards of accuracy and attention to detail; Experience of analysing and manipulating large volumes of data
* Experience in a previous analytical role is a must have
* An interest in environmental issues is desirable
* Experience using VBA is desirable
* Experience using Power Query is desirable
Qualifications
* Numerical/scientific qualification at A-Level (or equivalent) or above
* Must be educated to degree level or equivalent
