PH1920 Fresh Produce Trader Foodservice sector REWARDS: Basic £35K-£45K (OTE £55K) and company benefits WORKING HOURS: 2am 10am (Nights) LOCATION : Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester Fresh Produce Trader position with an industry market leader THE COMPANY : We are an established Foodservice wholesaler with a turnover of over £100 Million and a strong reputation in the UK. In terms of product range we comprehensively supply Frozen, Chilled and ambient lines, but also have a strong reputation for fresh produce. We are known for our strong quality of product and level of service. Our customer base spans across all of foodservice but we have particular success within travel, hotel, pub, leisure and restaurant sectors. We are proud of our positive and teamworking culture and our supportive and experience management team. Due to a successful last 12 months we are seeking to add a fresh produce trader to our team to support with fresh produce buying and customer management within a fast paced environment. THE ROLE: This role is a key part of our trading/buying team and is based out of Southampton. Due to the nature of the fresh produce sector the hours are generally 2.00am-10.00am Monday to Friday. You will be involved, as part of a wider team, with speaking to our fresh produce suppliers and ascertaining product availability and pricing on a daily basis. You will also convey these prices through to our key customers to secure orders on a daily basis. There will also be occasions where customers are looking to source a specific fresh produce product, and you will pro-actively source the right supplier from our network and the open market. Due to the nature of the industry its an extremely fast paced and changing environment but also massively rewarding for the right individual. THE APPLICANT. We are open to speaking to candidates with a background ideally within the Fresh produce sector at trader/senior trader level. Candidates must have a proven track record in a trading, purchasing or internal sales capacity. Experience in fresh produce will be highly advantageous We will also consider candidates who have experience of other short shelf-life areas which lead to a trading style sales process including seafood or butchery. Experience selling to or trading to Foodservice customers will be advantageous, although we will also consider candidates who have worked in a food trading environment to other sectors including retail or manufacturing.
