Engineering Delivery Manager – Key Responsibilities
* Direct and manage engineers on a project or bid to achieve objectives for programme schedule, financial and quality targets.
* Ensure engineering processes are applied correctly and comply with company, legislative, regulatory and international standards.
* Manage the project engineering strategy, direction and team, with interaction with UK and international customers, end-users, industrial partners and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
* Provide technical and engineering leadership to deliver the engineering solution on time, within cost and to quality, including design decisions and conflict resolution.
* Ensure timely production of System and Subsystem Requirements and plan IVVQ and sell-off in a progressive, low-risk manner.
* Plan and coordinate design and technical certification for business approval and delivery.
* Plan and coordinate all engineering activities within architecture and design policy to satisfy requirements.
* Define Work Breakdown Structures, Organisation Breakdown Structures and tasks; tailor development processes and ensure baselines are achieved.
* Tailor the engineering environment to optimise costs, schedule and risks from design to validation and acceptance.
* Support the Programme Manager in proactively managing Risks & Opportunities during development, integration and qualification phases, including those flown down to subcontractors and partners.
Experience
The role requires proven experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Managing the development and validation of innovative, cost-effective solutions and architectures that meet design requirements within budget and schedule constraints.
* Engineering delivery across multiple disciplines as focal point for issue resolution across engineering activities.
* Evaluating system requirements and feasibility and design approach within area of expertise.
* Specifying system design criteria related to performance, interfaces and testing requirements.
* Monitoring and analysing technical progress to ensure compliance with design requirements and schedules.
* Engineering leadership of a multidisciplinary team.
* Building and sustaining good working relationships with colleagues, managers, customers and stakeholders.
* Effective personal organisation and ability to remain composed under pressure.
* Knowledge of relevant development lifecycles and requirements capture, analysis, and management.
* Developing innovative, low-risk engineering approaches to manage a complex project lifecycle.
* Cost and schedule planning of engineering activities.
* Managing a project through systems requirements analysis and development, architecture design and development through to IVVQ of the solution.
Minimum Educational Requirements
You will have a Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject or equivalent training and experience. A Masters Degree (Meng, MSc) or postgraduate level in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics-related subject is an advantage.
Security
This role requires enhanced security clearance to secret (SC) level. Candidates will be required to meet the criteria and seek Defence Vetting Agency clearance, sponsored by Thales. For eligibility criteria, please refer to the Defence Vetting Agency website.
In line with Thales\' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment/education history for up to three years. Some vacancies may require full Security Clearance which can require further evidence to be provided.
