Role Purpose
To assist the Registered Manager to ensure the effective operation of the service. This includes overseeing the day-to-day management of the accommodation, supporting the development and progression of young people’s independence programs, and ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations, policies, and procedures. The Senior Support Worker will provide leadership to the support staff team, ensuring high standards of care and support are maintained while also supporting the health and safety, well-being, and development of young people
Key Responsibilities

Supporting the Registered Manager: Assist with day-to-day service management, plan and review support and risk assessments, monitor quality and compliance, liaise with staff, young people and external professionals, and uphold Ofsted standards.

Supporting Young People’s Progression: Design and oversee structured programmes that build independence and life skills, track progress, encourage engagement in education, work and social activities, and mentor young people toward their personal goals.

Staffing and Team Support: Provide shift leadership and positive role-modelling, supervise and mentor staff, help recruit, induct and train new team members, and monitor performance to maintain high-quality care.

Home Management: Oversee the daily running of the accommodation, maintain a clean, safe and nurturing environment, ensure rooms and communal spaces meet young people’s needs, and arrange prompt repairs.

Health and Safety: Lead on health-and-safety checks and risk management, model best practice in safeguarding, and make sure staff and young people understand safety protocols.

Report Writing and Documentation: Keep accurate, secure records, prepare detailed progress and incident reports, contribute to reviews and audits, and support the Registered Manager with Ofsted and external reporting.

Safeguarding and Well-being: Foster a culture of respect and empathy, respond swiftly to safeguarding concerns, follow legislation and policy, and offer trusted emotional support to young people.

Administration and Compliance: Ensure incidents, accidents and complaints are recorded and reported correctly, champion adherence to policies and regulatory standards, and participate fully in meetings and training.
Person Specification
*
Essential Qualifications & Experience: NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent); 2+ years’ work with children or young people in residential or social-care settings; strong grasp of Ofsted and safeguarding requirements; experience supporting young people with EBD and promoting independence; proven supervisory skills.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills: QCF Level 5 or higher; skill in writing care plans, risk assessments and reports; First Aid and medication-administration training; understanding of youth mental health and therapeutic approaches.

Key Competencies: Genuine passion for improving young lives, strong leadership and communication, proactive problem-solving under pressure, and an empathetic, patient, non-judgemental attitude.

Hours: (Apply online only) per month
Sleeps: £50 per night and a requirement of role
