Sussex Partnership Nhs Foundation Trust
Community support worker

Offer description

We're looking for people who share our values of compassion, accountability and optimism to help us provide high-quality care for the patients, carers, families and communities we serve. We specialise in NHS mental health and learning disability services and we're proud to make a difference every day. At SPFT we put people first. We’ll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. You'll have opportunities to learn, grow and gain new experiences to support your career, with access to lifelong learning and professional development. We actively promote flexible working and understand how important work‑life balance is, especially in healthcare. Whether it’s part‑time hours, hybrid working or flexible start and finish times, we’ll explore what works for you and the role. We recognise that AI is becoming part of daily life and you may choose to use it to help prepare your application. We welcome innovation but ask that anything you submit reflects your own abilities, experience and voice. AI can support how you describe your skills and experience, but it should never replace your own words as we want to get to know you. We’re shaping a workplace where ideas are encouraged, technology supports you and everyone has a voice in how we improve. If that sounds like the kind of organisation you want to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.

Job overview

Will you thrive in a role where you can support adults with learning disabilities to live a fulfilling and meaningful life? The Partnership Domiciliary Care Agency (PDCA) at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust does just that. We provide care and support to adults (18+) with learning disabilities/autism in their own homes. We offer long‑term support to a small group of 14 service users and encourage them to live as independently as possible. Working with adults who have complex and high‑risk emotional/behavioural difficulties gives us job satisfaction in abundance, as we empower them to follow the routines and lifestyle that they deserve. We are a 24‑hour service and offer flexible shifts with pay enhancements for unsocial hours, weekends and bank holidays, plus the opportunity to pick up extra bank shifts and enhanced hours.

As a Senior Support Worker in our team, you will work with all 14 of our service users to get to know them and form a strong professional bond. You will be offering a range of support based on individual needs as well as helping them to become an active member in their local community. You will provide support at set regular times and based around planned activities/routines. Your passion and motivation will come to the fore as you help service users to realise their full potential and enjoy a high quality of life.
