Overview

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) wanted to join CNWL Talking Therapies Service Brent. We are a large, well established service based in a diverse borough of London. The service provides low and high intensity therapies at Step 2 and Step 3, alongside our Step 3 counselling service. We value compassion, respect, empowerment and partnership and work to these trust values. We welcome applicants who speak other languages and who have enthusiasm for and experience of working with diversity.

We are looking for PWPs with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who are adaptable, enjoy challenges and diversity, and have enthusiasm for primary care work.

Responsibilities

* Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service. This includes participation in the team’s duty and triage rota to screen referrals alongside a high intensity therapist and a senior clinician.
* Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in self-management of their recovery.
* Undertake patient-centred interviews to identify areas for change or recovery and assess risk to self and others.
* Decide on the suitability of new referrals, refer unsuitable clients to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary, or step up the person’s treatment to high intensity psychological therapy.
* Provide information and support for evidenced-based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help computerised CBT, and information about pharmacological treatments. Work may be face-to-face, by telephone or via other media.
* Educate and involve family members and others in treatment where necessary and appropriate.
* Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to client contacts and weekly clinical sessions to minimise waiting times and maintain accessible treatment delivery.
* Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
* Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service and keep coherent records of clinical activity in line with service protocols.
* Use records and clinical outcome data to inform clinical decision making.
* Work closely with other team members to maintain stepped care through appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements.
* Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the therapy process where relevant.
* Operate from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery, respects diversity, and maintains safe practice.
* Prepare and present clinical information for patients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors on a scheduled basis.
* Deal with a range of clients and clinical situations, including highly emotive communication, applying initiative, tact and persuasion in the face of psychological resistance.
