The primary purpose of this job role is to:
Provide a high-quality careers education, information, advice and guidance services to current and potential students and apprentices assisting them in making informed and realistic choices about their next steps in line with the College’s Strategic Plan for Excellence.
The role will be based across both Cambridge and Huntingdon Campuses.
The primary duties, tasks and responsibilities of this job role are to:
1. Provide a range of CEIAG support to current and prospective students and apprentices promoting smooth transitions to apprenticeships, further and higher learning, employment or training.
2. Undertake 1:1 careers guidance meetings with students and apprentices, producing appropriate post-interview summaries of guidance and action plans, ensuring such records are stored appropriately and client confidentiality is maintained.
3. Support with the design and delivery of an effective careers education programme, including developing an online Careers Hub and delivering group sessions covering a variety of topics including UCAS, CVs, job applications, interview techniques, employability skills and labour market information. Ensure materials are professionally presented and well researched.
4. Ensure both individual and group careers interventions are evaluated. Quality assure own and peer work, meeting and exceeding quality requirements.
5. Support with processing applications within the College UCAS Centre.
6. Contribute to the design and organisation of careers events.
7. Ensure that relevant, up-to-date information is available to students both in-person and online.
8. Research progression opportunities and develop resource materials.
9. Use the EBS, ProMonitor and other appropriate student data systems to record all enquiries and interactions with all who access the service.
10. Provide advice and guidance at key Cross College events, including open evenings, careers events, enrolment sessions, exhibitions and PR events.
11. Liaise with other college staff to maintain a high profile of the careers service and to ensure awareness of different courses and the careers education provision. Keep up to date with new developments within the College.
12. Keep professional knowledge relevant to the role up to date

Qualifications:
·Good level of education, including GCSE in English and Maths (or equivalent level).
·Level 6 Qualification in Careers Guidance & Development
Experience and knowledge:
·Experience providing high-quality impartial CEIAG to young people under the age of 19 and adult learners and job seekers.
·Experience carrying out 1:1 careers guidance sessions with individuals at different stages of career development.
·Thorough knowledge of the post-16 and post-19 educational, training and employment progression routes.
·Experience developing and delivering group careers interventions.
·Understanding of the current issues and developments relating to education, skills and the job market.
·Familiarity with digital communication platforms, e.g. Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
Skills and abilities:
·Prepared to work flexibly in terms of job tasks and hours.
·Be able to present information to learners in different formats to enhance accessibility.
