Position Overview
Cardiff and Vale College are looking for a Student Finance Officer to join our Student Service team. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the work of the Student Service Experience area and will primarily assist in maintaining a highly effective and responsive college student finance service, providing impartial advice and guidance to all potential and current learners regarding financial support.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote and disseminate information available for Student Financial Support at Open Evenings, college events, face‑to‑face drop‑in sessions and pop‑up workshops.
* Provide effective information, advice and guidance to all learners regarding the various financial support available to them.
* Liaise with external providers as required to ensure learners are offered the most effective form of finance support.
* Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate records pertaining to all aspects of student financial support, including PayMyStudent.
* Take ownership of areas of the student finance service and lead on the day‑to‑day operations of this service, ensuring processes are efficient and all associated administrative records are accurately maintained.
Requirements
* Fluency in Welsh is not essential, but fluent Welsh speakers are preferred to engage with learners through the medium of Welsh.
* Registration with the Educational Workforce Council for Wales (EWC Wales) is a mandatory requirement of the post.
* Suitable reference checks: two references (one from your present or most recent employer) are required before employment commences.
* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check: all vacancies are subject to a DBS check and employment will not commence without a valid up‑to‑date DBS check.
* Suitability of ex‑offenders for employment must be confirmed upon request.
