We are recruiting a Metrology Technician who will work closely with the Moulding Toolroom and Quality Engineering teams. Metrology involves the science of measurement, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. The technician will identify measurement needs, plan, and perform measurement tasks using various tools, equipment, instrumentation, and software. Daily tasks include routine measurements of mould steel for PM and incoming inspections. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and improving measurement systems across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identify measurement needs and select appropriate tools, equipment, instrumentation, and software.
2. Interpret information and documentation to support measurement processes, including data, manuals, specifications, and calibration certificates.
3. Prepare the work environment, perform tests on measurement tools and equipment, and assess their suitability.
4. Address non-conforming tools and equipment appropriately.
5. Plan and execute measurement tasks following specified procedures to ensure verifiable results.
6. Analyze, interpret, validate, and record measurement data according to specifications.
7. Contribute to documentation such as records and reports.
8. Support development of effective measurement methods incorporating latest technologies.
9. Develop and write automated measurement programs.
10. Complete measurement studies and prepare reports, including statistical analysis and layout inspections.
11. Provide troubleshooting expertise for measurement equipment issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Achieved GCSE or higher, with a college qualification in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering preferred.
* At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing and moulding environment is advantageous.
