Overview
This job is offered by an age-inclusive jobs board and seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Facilities and Operations Manager to help ensure the smooth running of a hospital. Responsibilities
* Oversee facilities management to enhance hospital efficiency, reduce operating costs, and increase productivity.
* Ensure operational standards are met across the hospital and support the wider team with daily activities.
* Oversee general upkeep and maintenance of the hospital and outdoor areas.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Manage clinical and non-clinical equipment orders, repairs and service agreements.
* Handle cleaning services, security, waste disposal and car parking.
* Track maintenance costs and ensure compliance with safety protocols, including weekly fire tests and annual evacuations.
* Liaise with contractors, oversee their visits, troubleshoot basic IT issues and liaise with IT for larger projects.
* Handle onsite small repairs and DIY tasks; facilitate communication between hospital teams and external service providers.
About the role and team
Hamilton Specialist Referrals (HSR) is a purpose-built veterinary hospital located just outside of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire (J4, M40). The hospital provides specialist treatments for cats and dogs, with rehabilitation and physiotherapy facilities. The hospital operates 24/7, 365 days a year, offering advanced treatment options for Orthopaedic, Neurology, Soft Tissue, Oncology, Anaesthesia and Internal Medicine cases. The team focuses on development, clinical excellence, and gold-standard patient care within a friendly and supportive culture.
What you’ll bring
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual with experience in a clinical environment (not essential). Knowledge of operational processes and health and safety regulations is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and financial acumen to support sound decision-making. Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues are required. Excellent communication skills are essential for building relationships with internal teams and external contractors, and the ability to manage your own diary and workload.
Working hours
This full-time role is 40 hours per week, five days per week. Hours are within practice opening hours: 7:30am – 8pm, Monday to Friday, to meet hospital needs. There are no weekends or out-of-hours requirements for this role.
