Job Title: REGISTERED GENERAL NURSE / RGN / Staff Nurse
Accountable to: Home Manager / Clinical Lead
Authority: Lead and deliver on personalised care for your patients. Support and inspire your team of HCA's.
JOB PURPOSE:
Principal Purpose:
· To ensure the team deliver quality care according to the operational policies and procedures of the home.
· To deliver, review, audit and implement evidence-based care planning.
· To maintain a safe environment for residents, families, significant others, visitors and staff.
· To ensure that carers and support staff are well inducted, to appraise carers and develop personal development plans for these carers within wing.
· To ensure effective communication channels between staff, management, residents, relatives, significant others and visitors.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP:
· To supervise the work of all staff within team.
· To work proactively with 'key workers'.
· To support senior management team of the Home.
· To deputise, in the absence of the Team Leader, for the Home Manager.
DETAILED RESPONSIVITIES:
· Ensures that the assessment of needs for each resident is accurately and comprehensively completed and subject to regular review.
· Liaises with relatives and significant others that the activity programme for each resident reflects the interests of the residents and promotes this/her autonomy.
· Acts as a role model to care staff in delivering evidence-based care in a sensitive and confidential manner.
· Exercise professional accountability in the day to day running of the wing.
· Develops the key worker system within the wing.
· Is familiar with and implements all company policies and procedures.
· Promotes the fresh start for all new staff.
· Work with support services managers to ensure that optimal conditions are provides for each resident on the wing.
· Ensure clinical training required is maintained and reported to Team Leader.
