Bolton School are looking to appoint an effective and inspirational leader who is an EYFS/KS1 specialist with excellent communication skills and proven managerial ability. The successful candidate will join a talented team of hugely supportive colleagues and will manage Beech House Infants' School so that all children are provided with a caring, safe and stimulating environment which takes into account their individual needs and enables them to reach their full potential.
The Head of Beech House is responsible to the Head of Primary Division for all aspects of the effective leadership and effective management of day to day operations.
Beech House is the co-educational Infant School of the Bolton School Foundation. Infant School entry in most cases is at age 4, with many of the children joining from the Bolton School Nursery. There is also a Pre-School class based in the school setting. Prior to places being offered, each child is assessed by the Head and/or Deputy Head of Beech House. They join one of three Reception classes. Class sizes vary between 20 and 25 and there are currently 195 children in the school.
Eleven full time class teachers (including the two Deputy Heads) and two part-time teachers are assisted by seven full time and four part time Teaching Assistants. French, PE and Music are taught by specialist staff. The curriculum has regard to national initiatives, but there is room for flexibility, creativity and additional activities.
The School is housed in a beautiful purpose-built building, completed in May 2009. Facilities are excellent. Each year group has a resources area for play and for group work and there is a well-equipped ICT room with enough computers for a class of 25 children as well as a bank of iPads for their use.
The successful candidate is likely to be a graduate with a good honours degree, who holds qualified teacher status and who has flair and vision together with the necessary academic, educational and administrative experience to succeed in a post of this standing. Candidates will have a proven track record in leadership and in the management of change. Good communication skills, oral and written, are essential.
