About the job
We are hiring a Fleet Engineer on a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for permanence. The Fleet Engineer will be a key part of our Lumo-Stirling service, ensuring safe and efficient operations while delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities include reviewing and implementing fleet modifications and upgrades, analyzing maintenance and performance data for optimization, and supporting the engineering team in all operational aspects, including compliance with safety standards and project management of industry initiatives. The role also involves providing support during incidents and disruptions.
About you:
* Experience in fleet operations and service delivery, including contract management.
* Ability to work effectively within an engineering team aligned with business goals.
* Proactive problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach.
* Strong engineering background relevant to the rail industry.
* Familiarity with Class 222 rolling stock.
* Willingness to undergo training on office software such as SAP, HFMT, SOROS, MS Office, and other relevant systems.
* Audit qualifications to review engineering procedures and suppliers.
* Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly.
Key accountabilities:
* Collaborate with third-party maintainers to meet service availability requirements.
* Investigate safety, reliability, and performance issues.
* Review incidents, gather evidence, and coordinate with relevant departments.
* Ensure remedial actions by third-party maintainers comply with standards.
* Analyze performance data to identify failure trends and develop corrective plans.
* Manage industry initiatives and participate in performance meetings.
* Compile incident reports and audit third-party suppliers.
* Support train rescue operations during incidents.
* Provide 24/7 fleet support for third parties and the business.
* Manage engineering change processes and train configurations.
