Job Description
We are currently partnered with a Chartered Institute organisation who are looking for a Director of Finance & Commercial Services to join their team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the finance department, ensuring high levels of organizational effectiveness, communication, and compliance.
* Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's goals.
* Manage the budgeting process, including the creation, monitoring, and review of annual budgets.
* Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO/Board of Directors and members of the executive management team. Ensuring that financial transactions are administered in the most efficient and effective way, with effective controls and processes in line with internal and external governance
* Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
* Conduct analysis to make forecasts and report to upper executives.
* Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws
* Oversee the preparation of all financial reporting
* Lead financial planning and analysis efforts to optimize financial performance and strategic position.
* Foster relationships with external partners and stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
* Oversee the procurement of services, ranging from IT to Office space, overseeing contract negotiations and ensuring value for money while maintaining ongoing quality and compliance of agreed service levels.
* Ensure credibility of the Finance department
* Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team capable of meeting the evolving needs of the organisation.
* Help to ensure all financial processes within the organisation are as efficient as possible, utilising automation where possible
Qualifications and Experience:
* Accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) or equivalent.
* Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably in a similar industry, or with knowledge of the Charity/Public sector
* Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices in financial management.
* Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budget management, and financial analysis.
* Effective leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
