The energy transition is critical to delivering a net zero carbon future and National Grid Electricity Distribution is at the heart of it. We’re looking for a Finance Assistant – Accounts Payable to help build and run a cleaner energy system.
What You’ll Do
* Act as the interface between Accounts Payable and Procurement and manage the respective e‑mail inbox.
* Direct POs and new supplier requests to the procurement team for approval and action on the system.
* Understand and adhere to relevant audit and SOX controls.
* Operate, administer and understand transaction processes and payment procedures for Suppliers, Corporate & Procurement card schemes, Wayleaves, Non Orders and Foreign Payments.
* Administer payment transactions for Bacs & cheques.
* Adhere to reporting, control and reconciliation procedures.
What You’ll Have
* Previous experience in a similar environment with diplomacy and communication skills to manage customer relationships, both in writing and verbally.
* Knowledge of internal procedures and systems; awareness of statutory requirements and compliances.
* Experience communicating with business representatives and external customers to resolve enquiries and outstanding invoice and payment queries.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Good interpersonal skills, self‑confident and able to work unsupervised; capable of prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
* Pragmatic, quick to adapt to change and able to align skills to different stakeholders.
* Ability to set and manage customer expectations and key stakeholder relationships.
* Strong results orientation.

Up to £35,283 depending on experience.

This is a hybrid role from the Plymouth office. Full‑time training is required in the office, after which hybrid working with roughly 2 days per week in office is accommodated. The role closes on 4 June at 23:59.
