Position Overview
Matthew Gibney Catholic Primary School is a single stream, co‑educational school with an active school community and supportive parent body. We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and organised Social Worker to join our dedicated staff. The Social Worker is an integral part of the overall pastoral care of the school, focusing on the student in the school environment to facilitate successful learning outcomes.
Position: Social Worker – Part‑time, Temporary (6.5 hours per day over two days, workdays negotiable).
Selection Criteria
* Be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education.
* Demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents.
* Counsel and support students with their individual social and emotional needs.
* Provide strategies to assist teachers in building positive relationships and resilience in students.
* Liaise with the school Principal and class teachers to establish strategies and action plans that will promote collective responsibility for student wellbeing and assist in implementing and maintaining whole‑school wellbeing approaches for students, staff and the wider school community.
* Work collaboratively with parents.
Qualifications Required
* Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
* Hold or willing to attain relevant accreditations required to teach in a Catholic school.
