Who Are We?

Kibble is a specialist child and youth care charity and a leading social enterprise. For over years we’ve been supporting children and young people (aged 5 – 26), many of whom have experienced significant trauma or adversity. Through our integrated services and dedicated support, providing a safe and stable environment, Kibble helps young people who have complex social, emotional, behavioural and educational needs move forward to lead healthy and fulfilled lives.

Kibble are looking to appoint a registered or eligible for registration with the GTC (Scotland), experienced Music Teacher who is keen to gain experience of working with children and young people with additional support needs.

Our Expressive Arts Department

The education team at Kibble is based across our schools; primary school - Forest View, secondary school - Goudie Academy, safe centre school - Mirin Academy and The Skills Academy, where there is opportunity to work in collaboration with local community groups as well as national organisations to strengthen opportunities, experiences and development for our learners.

Education Scotland’s inspection report praised Kibble as ‘Very Good’ across all quality indicators, noting positive learning experiences and high motivation among pupils.

What is the job Function?

As a teacher at Kibble you will be part of a friendly, supportive and creative team. Small class sizes (6 pupils) allow our learners to meet their maximum potential. Personalised Learning Plans ensure you can deliver the appropriate qualifications to learners based on their needs. You will be well versed in differentiation and personalisation of education and deliver inspiring and engaging lessons to enthuse often reluctant learners.

The successful candidate will enjoy working with our secondary aged learners who access Kibble’s Education services, working across our schools, delivering Curriculum for Excellence and delivering National Qualifications as well as Wider Achievement Qualifications

We welcome applications from teachers with experience in music performance, composition, music technology, media/film and screen and/or leading ensembles.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate should –

. have a teaching qualification in Music or another relevant subject

· have full registration with The General Teaching Council for Scotland or Provisional Registration if Probationary period has not yet been completed

· have a recognised teaching qualification specific to Secondary Education

· demonstrate strong values, empathy and emotional literacy, with a trauma‑informed, relational approach that recognises the central role of trusting relationships in learning.

· have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all stages of the secondary curriculum

· show commitment to curricular development

· be skilled in the delivery of high-quality learning and teaching in music

· have sound knowledge of safe working practices relevant to Music, including rehearsal/performance activities, use of instruments, and music technology

· have a working knowledge of current subject-related curriculum developments

· hold some experience of preparing learners for music assessment, including performance, composition/creating, and listening/appraising tasks

· be an effective communicator both orally and in writing

· demonstrate a clear commitment to continuing professional development

· understand the importance of relationships

· show commitment and enthusiasm for the subject and possess the ability to motivate learners

· be willing to contribute to the wider school and Kibble community through inter-disciplinary initiatives

· be committed to the pastoral welfare of learners

· be proficient in the use of ICT to enhance learning and teaching

· motivate, encourage and support others.

· make effective use of time, personnel and resources.

· show aptitude for decision making and acting on initiative.

Notes

1. The successful candidate will be required to become a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme (PVG Scheme). Having previous convictions will not automatically disbar you from working at Kibble (with the exception of offences against children or other vulnerable groups) and every case is taken on an individual basis.

4. The successful candidate will be required to undertake Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. The successful candidate must be able to participate fully in this training and be prepared to put this training into practice. The SCM training will consist of two days theory and two days physical training. The successful candidate must complete this training prior to taking up post. Should the candidate for any reason fail any aspect of the SCM training (theory, physical or both parts), an additional input and opportunity would be given to successfully complete the training and achieve the required level of proficiency.
5. Appointments will be subject to a twelve-month probationary period.
