Role Overview
The Construction Training Lead has a pivotal key role in the SPT business, developing and managing the training programme for the Construction team. Working closely with business partners and training providers to support line managers, functional managers and department heads.
Responsibilities
* Develop and manage a technical training programme, supporting Line Managers, Functional Managers and Department heads.
* Identify knowledge and skill gaps for each role and collaborate with training providers to establish individual PDPs, focusing on technical skills.
* Work with the Chartered Institute of Builders and training (LMS) to provide management training for Construction Managers / Site Managers and Trainees.
* Prepare and deliver bespoke Transmission Major Projects training material in line with Business processes and procedures.
* Evaluate and monitor Transmission Major Project works and report findings via appropriate systems and organisational structure.
* Contribute recommendations to Transmission Major Project Senior Construction management on efficiencies and improvements.
* Develop, deliver, and consistently improve Onboarding material for both new and existing staff within Construction.
* Lead, create, share, and deliver SPT Major Projects bespoke Construction training material in line with latest business processes and procedures.
* Support team growth and succession planning by creating and implementing training programmes for all Construction staff.
What You’ll Bring
* Strong construction background, preferably in transmission.
* Excellent knowledge of construction methods and quality standards.
* Good knowledge of contractor management and engagement (Civil, Buildings, Electrical, Cable).
* HSQE good practice and ability to apply it within a construction environment.
* Strong communication, coaching and mentoring skills at all levels.
* Keen ability to interface, influence & collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Minimum Criteria
* Preferred Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management within the Power Sector.
* Excellent IT skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Current five-day SMSTS qualification.
