Financial Accountant - PermanentLocation: OldhamAre you a Part‑Qualified Accountant looking to step into a broad, impactful role where you'll own key reporting processes and help drive continuous improvement?
This is a great opportunity to join a high‑performing finance function and play a central role in delivering accurate statutory reporting, VAT/tax compliance and strong internal controls.
The Role
You will support the delivery of high‑quality financial reporting and compliance across the business. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll analyse financial data, prepare monthly/quarterly VAT and other tax returns, and contribute to statutory accounts and audit cycles. You'll also help shape improvements in systems, controls and processes to enhance financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Produce and review VAT and tax returns, resolving queries with internal stakeholders.
2. Support annual statutory reporting and the audit timetable.
3. Strengthen financial controls and recommend areas for improvement.
4. Contribute to continuous improvement projects across finance operations.
5. Provide ad‑hoc support to the Financial Accounting team.
About YouEssential
6. Part‑Qualified CCAB/CIMA (ACCA Applied Skills / ACA Professional / CIMA Management level).
7. Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial controls.
8. Experience in statutory reporting or tax processes.
9. Advanced Excel skills; confident analysing and manipulating data.
10. Excellent communication skills and ability to manage varied deadlines.
Desirable
11. Experience with Oracle Financials or similar finance systems.
12. VAT/CIS return preparation experience.
13. Exposure to project work or process improvement initiatives.
