Early Years Practitioner, First Steps Nursery (SPH)
Beware the need for early and enthusiastic practitioners who will provide and enhance high-quality care at St. Peter’s Hospital. This role may also involve time spent at the Ashford site.
Job Summary
The Trust’s nurseries support NHS staff by offering quality, affordable day‑care for children aged 3 months to 5 years. You will be a key worker for a group of children, encouraging their development through a stimulating and caring environment.
Main Duties
* Provide a stimulating, caring learning environment for children of all ages.
* Document learning journeys and give timely, positive feedback to parents.
* Support physical health, wellbeing and play – lifting, running, bending, etc.
* Develop and maintain links with parents, encouraging their participation.
* Safeguard children and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of care.
* Follow medication, health‑and‑safety checks, and all Trust nursery policies.
* Attend regular staff meetings and statutory training (Safeguarding Children and Adults, Information Governance, Health & Safety, Manual Handling, Equal Opportunities, Fire Training, etc.).
Person Specification
* NVQ3 in Childcare and Education (or equivalent).
* Previous experience working with children aged 3 months to 5 years.
* Knowledge of the New Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with parents and colleagues.
* Ability to work safely, follow procedures and maintain confidentiality.

* Hours: Full‑time
* Band: 3
* Salary: £26,240 to £27,928 a year (including HCAS)
