We are supporting a multidisciplined, multi-office property consultancy in its search for an experienced structural engineer to join its large office in the West Midlands.
This office has an established group of engineers and consultants of various disciplines. The successful candidate will work closely with other staff to achieve innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient buildings.
Structures come from a variety of sectors including education, aerospace, commercial, residential, and manufacturing. The office services clients and developments across the Midlands, offering the opportunity to have a direct impact on your local community.
Duties
You will be responsible for providing a wide range of Structural Engineering services:
* Preparation of conceptual and outline designs for structural schemes
* Carrying out detailed design calculations according to up-to-date Eurocodes
* Managing technicians undertaking detailed design drawings and preparing specifications for tender purposes
* Liaising with the design team and client throughout the project, monitoring progress and quality during construction
* Conducting structural surveys of buildings and structures, providing advice on issues, analyzing structural defects, and recommending remediation if required
* Preparing detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposes and producing construction information for contractors
* Visiting sites during construction to monitor progress and advise contractors
You will work independently under the direction and support of the Team Manager.
Required Experience
* Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
* Structural design experience with core materials such as concrete, steel, masonry, and timber
* Working towards or achieved MIStructE/MICE Chartered membership
* Experience with finite element software packages (e.g., TEKLA Structures, SCIA, Robot)
* Ideally, experience with Structural Revit
