East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust
We are looking for an experienced, motivated clinician to join our team to cover maternity leave until 15th February 2026. You will be a registered Occupational Therapist with demonstrable expertise in discharge planning, supporting patients to become experts in their own care and to remain in their own homes.
It is expected that you will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with a variety of service users of different age groups, have good self-management skills and an ability to prioritise your case load. You should ideally have experience of working in a variety of clinical settings with knowledge of the challenges of community working.
For this post you will need to undertake weekend working as part of a seven day service. You will also undertake late shifts encompassing 10:00-18:00 in addition to regular hours of 08:30-16:30.
If you do not meet the full requirements of the Band 6, we would consider a Band 5 developmental to Band 6.
Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only. This will need to be discussed with your line manager.
Main Duties of the Job
The key objectives for this post are to provide rapid assessments in a fast-paced environment, formulate robust discharge plans, and work with the wider MDT to problem solve and support patients into their preferred place of care.
As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will have the opportunity to undertake a leadership role in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the care provided, as well as supervising junior staff and students.
You will demonstrate the ability to build networks and relationships across different clinical teams, embrace innovation and integrated working, and commit to delivering excellence in care alongside other OTs, Physiotherapists, Associate Practitioners, and Assistant Practitioners.
