The Bureau of Investigative Journalism is seeking a talented AI reporter to join our growing Big Tech team. We’re looking for someone who can uncover the human impacts of AI. This is a wonderful opportunity to have the time and breathing space to expose wrongdoing and injustice in this field.
About the role
We’re looking for a compelling storyteller who understands artificial intelligence and can demonstrate a track record of breaking stories with human voices at their heart.
The ideal candidate will have experience in either investigative journalism, AI reporting or both. We want you to help us build an audience around our tech work, whether that’s through our website, newsletter or YouTube channel.
Desired skills and experience:
 * Demonstrable knowledge of the tech sector and AI
 * Experience leading complex journalistic projects and delivering accurate stories within an agreed timescale and scope
 * A track record of landing agenda-setting stories and investigations
 * Diverse contacts in the field of tech/AI
 * Excellent written skills, having published news stories, explainers and longer form stories.
 * The ability to communicate via social media, in particular to be happy to make short-form summaries of your investigations for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram
 * A solid understanding of media law and journalistic ethics, including source protection
 * Confidence in making decisions in consultation with editors and other colleagues
 * An approach that encompasses teamwork and collaboration
 * Ability and desire to support team members in their investigations

 * Broadcast and/or public speaking experience
