16th June, 2026 Associate/Associate Director Project Manager - Built Environment Consultancy Greater Manchester (Hybrid Working) Competitive Salary Package Permanent | Full-Time Tempest Jones are partnered with a highly respected national construction consultancy that is continuing to strengthen its Project Management offering across the North West. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to appoint an Associate or Associate Director level Project Manager to play a key role in the leadership and development of their regional Project Management team. This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Project Manager looking to take the next step into a leadership position, or an existing Associate / Associate Director seeking greater autonomy, client exposure and influence within a growing consultancy. Candidates from a consultancy, professional project management, cost consultancy or multidisciplinary property and construction environment are particularly encouraged to apply. The business has built significant momentum in recent years and now has a well-established Project Management and Cost Management presence across the region. Project Management sits at the heart of the business, with PMs leading client relationships from project inception through to successful delivery. Alongside delivering projects, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to team growth, mentor developing project managers, support business development activities and help shape the future direction of the regional Project Management offering. The opportunity As an Associate/Associate Director Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of complex construction projects across sectors including housing, education, local government and wider public and private sector developments. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, supporting strategic decision-making from the earliest project stages through procurement, delivery and handover. You will also play a key role in developing client relationships, winning repeat business and supporting the growth of the wider team. This is a highly client-facing role that combines project delivery, leadership and commercial responsibility. Key responsibilities: Leading construction projects through both pre-contract and post-contract stages Acting as a senior point of contact and trusted advisor to clients Providing strategic project advice, procurement guidance and delivery solutions Managing project governance, risk, programme, cost and reporting processes Leading stakeholder engagement across client, consultant, contractor and funding bodies Undertaking Employer's Agent and Contract Administration responsibilities where required Chairing project meetings and leading project teams through key decision-making stages Overseeing project performance to ensure successful delivery against programme, budget and quality objectives Supporting business development activities, client relationship management and bid submissions Identifying opportunities for repeat business and cross-service collaboration Mentoring, developing and supporting junior and intermediate project management professionals Contributing to the continued growth and development of the regional Project Management team Supporting senior leadership with operational, commercial and strategic initiatives The person We are keen to speak with ambitious construction professionals who have developed strong project delivery experience within a building consultancy and are looking to take on a broader leadership role. This role could suit: A Senior Project Manager ready to step into an Associate-level position with further progression to Associate Director An existing Associate seeking greater responsibility and the chance to step into an AD role from day one An AD looking for a platform with genuine growth opportunities and influence with a supportive working culture and good pipeline of work A consultancy professional who enjoys combining project delivery, client management and team development To be considered, you should ideally have: Significant experience delivering construction projects within the built environment is a must Consultancy, professional project management or multidisciplinary construction consultancy experience Strong knowledge of both pre-contract and post-contract project delivery Proven client-facing and stakeholder management skills Experience leading project teams and coordinating multidisciplinary consultants Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project governance Excellent communication, presentation and relationship management skills Experience managing project programmes, risks and reporting processes A proactive, professional and solutions-focused approach Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required Desirable experience: Experience delivering projects within housing, education, local government or public sector environments Employer's Agent and/or Contract Administration experience Design and Build procurement experience Business development, client account management or bid support experience Experience mentoring or managing junior team members Chartered status, or working towards chartership, with APM, RICS, CIOB or another relevant professional body Construction-related degree or equivalent industry experience Important note This is a construction Project Management role within the built environment. Applications from IT Project Managers, Software Project Managers, Digital Transformation Project Managers or Technology Delivery Project Managers will not be suitable for this position. Why apply?
