AFBI is seeking an enthusiastic, international recognised scientist in the area of agri-environmental sciences to lead a dynamic and exciting programme of research. The successful individual will take forward a diverse programme of research to address the significant environmental challenges whilst ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources and the future prosperity of the agri-food sector. The research programme will use a multi disciplinary approach working across AFBI and other collaborators to addresses land and nutrient management issues to make appropriate and efficient use of resources, while protecting the environment. The integrated research effort covers the impact of agriculture on air, soil, water quality and biodiversity. The individual will demonstrate strong leadership and will be an excellent communicator to ensure the impact of the programme is realised locally, nationally and internationally. This is a unique and challenging opportunity to contribute to and influence future significant changes expected within AFBI and Northern Ireland’s environment and agri-food industry as a whole. Further appointments may be made from this competition should AFBI positions become vacant which have similar duties and responsibilities.
