Position: Head of Field Sales Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Location: Rochdale Job Summary: The Head of Field Sales will be responsible for the delivery and execution of field sales strategy for the company to drive business growth and market expansion through both a managerial and hands on approach. This includes the responsibility and accountability to create and lead the field sales team and all sales activity, performance, systems and processes, with an emphasis on winning new business with motor dealerships. To undertake business development to secure future new business and client partners. To manage existing key client relationships and ensuring the achievement of financial goals and driving revenue growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales strategic and tactical delivery, excellent communication and relationship building skills. To work in collaboration with the Head of Internal Sales and proactively contribute to the Senior Management team. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning and Execution: Contribute to and delivery of the company's field sales strategy in alignment with overall business objectives. Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, market trends, and competitive activities. Develop and execute business development and key account management plans to expand market share and penetration. Sales and Revenue Management: Accountable for the field sales team's performance, setting and communicating targets, and ensuring the achievement of sales goals. Monitor sales performance metrics and adjust tactics as needed to optimise results. Develop and present new sales tactics and plans for future business growth including new client opportunities, partnerships and initiatives. Responsible for advancing the businesses value proposition to enable continued business success including new products, services and sales policies. Ensure internal and external sales tools and systems are established and effectively used. Proactively manage, maintain and report on the sales pipeline, prospects, targeting and activities with the company CMS. Commercial Awareness and Brand Development: Work in collaboration with the Marketing team to develop marketing campaigns that support business objectives, winning new business and enhance brand presence. Monitor competition and industry trends using market data and market intelligence to understand what is happening in the industry, client needs, market demand and identify the sales opportunities this creates for the business short and long term. To represent the company at industry conferences, forums and networking events, being an ambassador for the business. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders, internal and external. To negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring mutual satisfaction and long-term partnerships. To understand and own client issues and ensure prompt resolution for all parties. Responsible for client and partner account management, development and retention. To manage and coordinate the integration of new clients and partners. Financial Oversight: Work closely with the Finance Director to set and manage the sales budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals and objectives. Create and deliver the sales plan, monitor and report on sales budgets and performance, including revenue, profit margins, and expenses. Collaborate with the Finance Director to forecast budgets, revenue, margins and manage financial risks. Forecast annual, quarterly and monthly volume targets anticipating market trends and shifts within the forecasts, adjusting appropriately. Review and propose competitive pricing and commissions that meet business and regulatory requirements. Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, shape and lead the field sales team, providing training, coaching and feedback to develop a high-performing and credible team. Conduct performance reviews, set objectives and development goals, and ensure continuous improvement. Work with the Finance Director to create and facilitate a field sales remuneration plan. Lead by example and promote collaboration between field sales, internal sales, marketing and operations. Maintain and proactively plan for staffing levels, resources and competence standards in line with the sales strategy and plan. Work with the senior management team to plan and generate new business opportunities and delivery, handling all aspects of the sales process, managing multiple, key accounts and sales opportunities. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all sales activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Identify and mitigate risks related to sales activities, including contracts, pricing, and competition. Keep up to date with and achieve compliance and regulatory training and standards. Reporting and Communication: Provide monthly reports and commercial insights to the Senior Management team and Board on sales performance, sales plans and initiatives. Communicate the business vision and value proposition to internal colleagues and external clients and partners. Attend and present at sales and senior management meetings. Qualifications: Strong knowledge and experience of the Motor industry, Financial Lending and Financial Services sector. Experience in a field sales management role, with a proven track record of delivering sales results within the motor dealership arena. Sales leadership skills with the ability to form, develop and motivate teams. Skilled negotiator with excellent communication, and interpersonal skills. Commercial acumen and in-depth knowledge of the industry, market trends and competition. Experience managing sales budgets and financial performance, planning and forecasting. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
