About the Role:
Our growing Environmental Team seeks an experienced professional with extensive energy and renewables sector experience. The role involves managing environmental compliance and sustainability efforts related to Development Consent Orders (DCOs) for renewable energy projects, including wind and solar. The candidate should have a strong understanding of environmental regulations, coordinate across teams nationally, and manage complex assessments and documentation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop client relationships with the Sector Director for Energy
* Engage in business development to secure new opportunities
* Manage a team of EIA practitioners in project delivery
* Lead the coordination, preparation, and submission of DCOs and other applications for renewable projects
* Collaborate with project managers, legal teams, and regulators to ensure compliance
* Monitor application progress and liaise with authorities
* Ensure projects meet environmental standards and regulations
* Prepare environmental reports and assessments, including EIAs and HRAs
* Work with internal teams and stakeholders to implement sustainable practices
* Support the company's sustainability goals by reducing environmental impacts
* Keep abreast of emerging environmental policies and renewable energy trends
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Qualifications:
* Degree in Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, or related field
* Membership of relevant professional bodies such as IEMA
* Chartered Environmentalist or Scientist (preferred)
Experience:
* Proven experience with DCOs and navigating regulatory frameworks in energy or infrastructure projects
* Experience working with government agencies, local authorities, and community engagement (preferred)
Skills:
* Effective communication skills, attention to detail
* Strong analytical and organizational skills
* Collaborative approach, building strong relationships within teams and with partners
* Ability to work well in teams and provide leadership
* Full UK driver's license
