Role: Director, Origination & Execution
Department: Corporate Risk Solutions
The CRS team was formed in 2021 to maximize M&G's competitive advantage as both asset owner (insurer) and asset manager. The team’s purpose is to design and deliver bulk purchase annuities and alternative de-risking products for UK Defined Benefit pension schemes.
Due to ongoing success, the team is expanding. This role focuses on supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of buy-ins, buyouts, and other innovative transaction structures. CRS aims to meet ambitious new business targets and seeks exceptional individuals to help achieve results.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Overseeing marketing, origination, and execution of new bulk annuity and de-risking opportunities, structuring transactions, and managing negotiations with trustees, companies, and advisers.
* Producing high-quality deliverables for clients and senior stakeholders, including review and delegation to junior team members.
* Managing internal and external stakeholders, coordinating across business units and partners to integrate various workstreams into strong client propositions.
* Developing a deep understanding of bulk annuity transaction structures, reinsurance solutions, and new product lines.
* Building and maintaining relationships with EBCs, trustees, and other stakeholders beyond transactional interactions.
* Identifying potential issues early and delivering practical, stakeholder-acceptable solutions.
* Nurturing talent within the team and across M&G.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience include:
* Strong commercial acumen, technical skills, attention to detail, and project management capabilities.
* In-depth understanding of bulk annuity transactions, including key commercial elements and financial metrics under Solvency UK.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
* Effective communication skills to understand and capture client needs.
* Ambitious, self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and in teams.
* Knowledge of alternative de-risking, capital, and reinsurance structures is beneficial.
* Proven ability to lead all aspects of a transaction.
* Several years’ experience in BPA transactions or relevant DB pensions experience.
* Qualifications: Qualified Actuary or CFA preferred, but not essential.
