LOCUM APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE IN PAEDIATRICS

Are you a doctor who can demonstrate satisfactorily completed a UK foundation (FY1 & FY2) training programme (or equivalent competencies) with recent experience relevant to the practice of paediatrics, Paediatric Surgery, Neonatal Medicine or Paediatric Emergency Medicine in the UK?
Applications are welcome for the above fixed term (6 months), full time (40 hours per week) post based in Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.
This post has an anticipated start date of 5th August 2026. This post will be backfilling vacancies in the clinical services caused by maternity leave and other absences leading to potential opportunities to gain experience in Paediatrics, Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric Critical Care, Neonatology or Paediatric Emergency Medicine on one or more NHS Lothian sites depending on service requirements and the development needs of the successful applicant.
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking duties associated with the assessment and admission of acutely unwell children and the day to day care of inpatients. Duties will include participating in Consultant-led ward rounds, reviewing in-patients, and full involvement in patient management and treatment. There will be full participation in the out of hours rota.
Please note that to practice medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC registration and a license to practice.
The post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training.
