As the Data Governance Manager at Social Work England, you’ll be presented with an unique opportunity to design, build and lead a new data governance program across Social Work England. The scope of this role is excitingly broad. You’ll work with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, and externally, to deliver a data governance solution that meets our needs in scale of size and complexity. Additionally you will create policies, processes and standards all of which underpin Social Work England’s progress towards becoming a data-led and modern organisation. Finally you’ll lead and manage on the organisational change required to adopt data governance across Social Work England. What you will do
* Lead a programme across the organisation to deliver the formation, implementation and management of data governance frameworks, policies and standards. Consult with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure strategic oversight of data governance throughout the organisation.
* Lead the development and adoption of key data management capabilities, including data quality assurance, metadata management, master data management, and data modelling.
* Set and monitor the adherence to data governance policies, frameworks and standards. Ensure that the application of these is appropriate to each part of the organisation and directed towards delivering Social Work England’s strategic objectives.
* Be responsible for understanding and managing the organisational data risks and issues, and co-ordinating with data owners to accept or resolve them. Collaborating with the Business Planning and Improvement team to ensure risks are managed via our existing risk processes and escalated appropriately.
* Take a hands-on lead in the cataloguing, monitoring and identifying data assets that are essential to the organisation’s operations. Work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to classify, document, and prioritise data based on business value, regulatory importance, influencing ad inspiring to ensure that this happens.
* Assign ownership of data, ensuring there is a clear RACI (responsible, accountable, consulted and informed) matrix in the organisation. Advocate for better use and management of data within the organisation.
* Work collaboratively with data owners to define and establish data domains that align with business needs and data governance standards. Advocate for the data governance within the organisation, communicating regularly and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
* Promote and enhance data literacy across the organisation to empower employees to confidently work with and make decisions based on data.
Your Skills, Knowledge And Experience
* Experience of implementing and monitoring data governance using standard methodology throughout the data life cycle, ideally within a large organisation.
* Experience of designing and implementing continuous improvements to optimise data governance over a data life cycle.
* Knowledge of data governance industry standards.
* Experience of advocating for effective data governance and data management policies and guidelines across an organisation.
* The ability to listen to and interpret the needs of technical and non-technical stakeholders and manage their expectations.
* The ability to lead the implementation of data best practises and to work with subject matter experts across the organisation to introduce data standards best practise.
* A practical understanding of data legislation and ethical requirements.
* Outstanding problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Experienced in change and risk management.
* A demonstrable commitment to inclusion and diversity.

* Job type: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract
* Working pattern: 37 hours. We offer flexible working subject to business need.
* Salary: £47,735 rising to £50,066 after successful completion of a 6 month probationary period.
* Location: Sheffield/Hybrid Working.
