We are looking to appoint a Head of English who is passionate about curriculum excellence, has the drive to inspire both students and colleagues, and is ready to lead English across Key Stages 3 and 4.
You will be responsible for:
* Leading the strategic development of English across the school
* Raising standards of teaching and learning across the department
* Developing curriculum maps, schemes of learning and assessment strategies that challenge and inspire
* Supporting, coaching and developing a committed team of English specialists
* Promoting literacy across the school and supporting whole-school priorities
Requirements:
* Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, management training
* Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level
* Have experience of initiation and effective management of change
* Show evidence of raising achievement in present post and showing good value added for groups
* Have knowledge of current curriculum developments in subject and their implications
* Have good knowledge and understanding of current educational thinking
