Your Future Team
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead and mentor engineering teams, taking ownership of mechanical and structural design and driving projects to successful completion.
Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor engineering teams, ensuring high-quality technical solutions that meet customer requirements.
* Oversee the mechanical design process for bespoke handling systems, lifting equipment and accessories from concept to manufacturing.
* Manage the development, review, and checking of technical documentation, including design reports, detailed drawings, technical files, calculations, and compliance documentation.
* Provide technical guidance and risk assessment, identifying and mitigating challenges before they impact project timelines.
* Collaborate with project managers, other lead engineers and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
* Work with Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and FEA tools.
* Engage with the supply chain, liaising with vendors to specify and develop mechanical components.
* Ensure compliance with industry regulations such as Machinery Safety Regulations and LOLER.
Qualifications
* BEng (2:1 or higher) in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
* Proven experience in mechanical engineering within a highly regulated sector.
* Strong knowledge of design for fabrication, welding and manufacturing tolerancing, including heavy industry design such as offshore, oil & gas and construction equipment.
* Experience with FEA software such as MathCAD, ANSYS, STAAD.
* Experience with piping design software (Fluid Master, Fluid Flow, CAESAR).
* Experience with NEC 4 contracts and risk identification is desirable.
* Experience with BS EN 13001, BS EN 13155 or similar crane-related standards is desirable.
* Experience with hydraulics and control systems is desirable.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical and structural engineering principles, including mechanical handling, design for manufacture and machinery design.
* Chartered Engineer status.
* Strong ability to lead teams and delegate tasks effectively.
* Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and requirements-led design is a plus.

* Candidates must be British nationals only.
* Candidates must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC); BPSS is the starting point.
* Maximum 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
