Job Summary
The Senior Primary Care Nurse will join the Primary Care team at HMP Hewell, a Category B Prison located in Redditch.
The successful candidate must have strong substance misuse experience and may have the opportunity to undertake prescribing and health assessment courses. A legal right to work in the UK is required, and offers will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week – three long days (12.5 hours) per week, 1.5 weekends per month (7:00 am‑8:00 pm) – three days per week.
Salary
The salary ranges between £43,609 and £49,175 per annum, depending on experience.

Main Duties
- Lead a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
- Provide evidence‑based care, listening to and acting on patient feedback to personalise care
- Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference
- Forge strong links with partners and stakeholders, providing a trustworthy and safe service
- Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence‑based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning
- Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care and support team members to excel
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (Adult) – NMC Licence
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Understanding of multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency working
- Excellent communication skills
- Proactive problem‑solving skills
- Motivation to work both independently and as part of a team
Experience
- Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (preferred but not essential)
