SEO is an independent energy consultancy supporting operators, service companies and investors across the offshore energy sector and the wider business landscape. The business is expanding its project portfolio and requires an Assistant Project Manager to strengthen delivery capability across all major client engagements. This role sits at the centre of SEO’s operations, is office based in Aberdeen, and works directly for the Executive Team, whilst reporting to the Lead Strategic Consultant.
Purpose of the Role
The Assistant Project Manager acts as a Project Delivery Manager responsible for coordinating, organising and driving the successful delivery of SEO’s core consultancy projects. The role is embedded within the consultancy offering structure and works under the direction of the Lead Strategic Consultant to ensure every assignment moves from initial planning to final handover with discipline, clarity and excellent execution. A core element of the role involves supporting analytical workstreams through financial modelling, data collation and structured analysis.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Executive Team and Lead Strategic Consultant in planning, scoping and structuring all major consultancy projects.
• Manage schedules, milestones, workstreams and delivery plans, ensuring tasks are delivered on time and to the required standard.
• Coordinate internal contributors and external partners, maintaining high levels of communication and accountability across the project team.
• Act as a day-to-day client liaison, providing updates, capturing requirements and ensuring expectations are aligned throughout delivery.
• Carry out financial modelling, scenario assessments, market quantification and commercial analysis to support project recommendations.
• Collate, organise and analyse technical, commercial and operational data to inform client reports and project decision making.
• Track risks, issues, decisions and dependencies, escalating where required and supporting robust project governance.
• Prepare progress reports, executive summaries, commercial updates and final deliverables for client and internal review.
• Support quality assurance and ensure that outputs meet SEO’s professional and technical standards.
• Maintain commercial awareness across projects, supporting contract compliance, budgeting and change control processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in project delivery methods, tools and templates.
Core Requirements
• Strong experience in project delivery within the offshore, energy, engineering or consultancy sectors.
• Proven capability in financial modelling, data analysis and structured problem solving.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, with the confidence to work directly with senior clients and the Executive Team.
• Ability to manage complex workstreams and maintain disciplined project control.
• High standards in written reporting, documentation, planning and stakeholder management.
• Ability to work effectively in an office environment in Aberdeen.
Preferred Background
• Degree in engineering, finance, business, project management or a related discipline.
• Training or certification in project management methodologies.
• Experience in offshore or energy consultancy environments.
• Exposure to technical studies, economic evaluation or commercial project work.
